Not only she has earned huge fan-following, her work has changed many people’s lives as well. In a recent interview with Asian Style Magazine, Vidya shared a very interesting fan moment.
When we asked her about the most memorable moment she has had with a fan, she revealed an incident about how a fan came out and told his father he was gay, after being so moved by Vidya’s performance from a scene in ‘Kahani’ (2012).
“Yes, I have people reach out to me in various ways. There was this boy who was waiting outside my van for five days, when I was shooting for a certain film and when I heard that there was someone waiting for me, so I called him into my caravan and I said: “what’s up what are you doing waiting for five days.” He said: “I just wanted to tell you that you changed my life” I asked how is that and he said: “I watched Kahani and when I saw that man kick you in your stomach and there was a shot of you looking up at him and a tear-drop falling out, there was a certain resolve in your eyes. I couldn’t stop myself from crying. I watched the film back to back thrice in a day and then I went and told my father I am gay.” And I said oh my God. I would have never thought that a scene like that would have such an impact on someone. I think I was humbled by what I heard. When people tell you things like that you’re just wondering what you did to…I feel I am so blessed in such a privileged position to be able to touch people’s lives like that,” she said talking to us exclusively before the release of her upcoming film ‘Tumhari Sulu’.
