The trailer for Taapsee Pannu’s Mulk has released and the super talented actress is once again displaying her powerful ability in delivering emotionally charged and high intensity roles.
In the film Mulk Taapsee plays the role of a lawyer determined to clear her client’s name from allegations of treason because she believes he’s being targeted because of his religion. At a recent trailer launch of Mulk, Taapsee told Indian journalists that she found it ‘disturbing that a particular religion is targeted like that’. She went on to share how it has also affected her life. “It is disturbing to see it happens because my life is run by Muslims. My manager, my driver, my housemaid…are all Muslims and they are an inseparable part of my life.
“This is one of the reasons why I chose to do this film. If somebody has to stand up to address the issue, then I would love to take the responsibility. Doing this movie was a way of venting out how disturbed I felt because of how Muslims are treated.” She said.
The Pink actress said that she has given her best to the film and that the message of the film is that it’s is not the government’s matter to address, it is ours. “That’s what we are trying to express in the film and whatever dialogues I have said in the film I have done it with all my heart.” She told reporters.
Today she continued her campaign by releasing a promotional video asking:
‘Aarti Malhotra or Aarti Mohammed. Does it make a difference????’
The powerful promotional video sees Taapsee’s character Aarti challenge why she is treated differently after changing her name from Aarti Malhotra to Aarti Mohammed.
The film also stars Rishi Kapoor, who plays Taapsee’s client accused of treason and Prateik Babbar. The film is Directed by Anubhav Sinha and releases on 3 August.
