Shahid Kapoor has a special gift for his fans this Diwali. The actor will reportedly treat his fans and all the moviegoers with the first look of his next movie that is going to be directed by Shree Narayan Singh who helmed the Akshay Kumar starrer recent hit, ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’.
On the special occasion of Diwali, the film will officially be announced with the title and teaser video release tomorrow, Thursday. Although both Shahid and Singh have confirmed the development of their first collaboration in media in past, the film was yet to be announced officially.
Shree Narayan Singh confirmed the news adding that Diwali was the perfect time to launch the teaser as it’s relevant to the film’s subject. Tentatively titled ‘Roshni’, the film is said to be a social drama that revolves around the common man’s fight against the power distribution companies in the country that make its consumers cough up huge amounts for bills.
“The festival of lights is the right occasion for us to through light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a conversation on the subject,” the director said.
In the film that is expected to be like ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’, Shahid is said to play a lawyer who raises his voice against the unethical practices of the power distribution companies. Although only Shahid has been finalized so far, the buzz is that Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif have also been approached to play important characters in the film. While Abhishek has been offered the parallel male lead who is involved in electricity theft, Katrina’s role is said to be a social worker who helps Shahid in his fight against the wrong-doings.
The film will go on floors in January after the release of Shahid Kapoor’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed magnum opus, ‘Padmavati’.
