After wrapping up the shoot for ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is now gearing up to begin filming for ‘Torbaaz’. The actor will take off to Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday with the team to commence the film’s first schedule which will run through Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
‘Torbaaz’ is touted as one of the big budget films with high on VFX. Planned to be mounted on an epic scale, the film will be shot at foreign locales and feature artists from Afghanistan, Iran, and America. “We will start in Bishkek and travel along the Silk Route through Central Asia. The film will feature different terrains and we will be shooting through the biting cold in difficult locations that have never been tapped by Bollywood before,” said Rahul Mittra who is co-producing this action-thriller with Wave Cinema’s Raju Chadha.
Set in Afghanistan, ‘Torbaaz’ is a story about child suicide bombers who have been trained to believe that killing is a virtue and glory is in afterlife. Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing an army officer and a father to a young child in the film. He plays a man who wants to give these ‘children of war’ a ray of hope. “It would be a complete surprise for the audiences to see Sanjay Dutt depicting a character that strives to bring change in a world that is torn by generations of war and bloodshed,” Mittra recently said.
Girish Malik whose directorial debut ‘Jal’ (2014) bagged the National Film Award for Best Special Effects will helm this movie that tells a universal story of such a hard-hitting subject. Nargis Fakhri who was last seen in Ritesh Deshmukh-starrer, ‘Banjo’ (2016) has been finalized to play a leading lady. She will be playing Dutt’s dead wife’s friend, Ayesha who works in an NGO and looks after war refugee kids in Afghanistan. Her character helps Dutt in his voyage of helping rebuild Afghanistan after years of war and destruction.
Besides Nargis, there will be two more girls who play key roles in the storyline of this film. One girl will be playing the role of a parent while the second leading girl is a Jordanian actress whose name has been kept under wraps yet. Apart from Sanjay, Nargis and a Jordanian actress, the film also stars Afghanistani-Canadian actor Humayoon Shams Khan.
