Raees’ next music track coincides with the Gujarati festival Makar Sankranti

After creating waves with music lovers worldwide with the release of the tracks Laila Main Laila (crossed over 60 million views on YouTube), and the romantic track Zaalima which has already garnered over 22 million views in less than a week, Raees is all set to release another song from the film – Udi Udi Jaye – a Gujarati flavoured track picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira.

The official Twitter handle of the film shared two stills from the song showing the stars playing “Garba” in traditional attire – with Shah Rukh Khan sporting a red bandhani dupatta complimenting Mahira in a red ghaghra-choli.

From action to passion and now culture, RAEES has it all! Fan interest has piqued even more as the song marks Shah Rukh Khan’s first Gujarati song!

Coinciding with the Gujarati festival Makar Sankranti, ‘Udi Udi Jaye’ will be soaked in Gujarati flavours. Since the custom of kite-flying is associated with Makar Sankranti, the song too will see Shah Rukh flying kites. In fact, the trailer of Raees gave us a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan flying a kite on the rooftop.

Udi Udi Jaye is composed and produced by Ram Sampath with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The track is sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Bhoomi Trivedi, and Karsan Sagathia.

Directed by National Award Winning filmmaker Rahul Dholakia, RAEES is the fictitious story of a man named Raees (Shah Rukh Khan), set in early 1980’s to 1990’s Gujarat, India. Raees eliminates every opposition that comes his way however his downfall will be crossing paths with the no-nonsense police officer Majumdar (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), whose sole reason for existence is the elimination of crime. What ensues next is a tumultuous battle between the two, which forms a key defining element of the film’s narrative. RAEES also stars renowned actress Mahira Khan who makes her Indian film debut and Atul Kulkarni known for his National Award Winning performances in films such as Hey Ram and Chandini Bar.
