Last month, we reported that the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ were in talks with Katrina Kaif for the leading heroine’s role. Shree Narayan Singh who is directing this movie also confirmed recently that Katrina was being considered for the role but he didn’t reveal anything more as he hesitated to talk about casting because the movie was still at the scripting stage that time.

However, if a source close to the project is to be believed, the scripting has been completed now and Katrina has almost come on board to play the leading lady. Reportedly, Prerna Arora who is producing this film under her banner, KriArj Entertainment, visited the ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ actress and pitched her the story which Katrina liked and agreed to take things to the next level.

The sources inform that Katrina has demanded the narration before she finally signs on the dotted line. The director Shree Narayan Singh along with his entire team of writers are expected to meet Katrina soon at her Bandra residence to seal the deal. If she signs this film, Katrina will be seen playing a philosopher and a guide who joins Shahid in his fight for justice.

Meanwhile, Shree Narayan Singh has dismissed the rumour of Shahid being not interested to work with Katrina. “This is absolutely untrue I do not even understand where this is coming from why would Shahid be unhappy? Firstly Shahid does not interfere with the creatives and casting, secondly, We are yet to take a call on this. To sum it up Shahid has no reservations at all if Katrina is on board, in fact, he will be glad to have her on the film. It’s better not to speculate things like this,” the director said to a website.

‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ revolves around the common man’s fights against the power distribution companies in India. Shahid will be seen playing a lawyer for the first time in this drama with a strong social message, human values, and an inherent emotional quotient.
