In 2012, Karan Johar launched Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra with ‘Student of The Year’ and today they are established names in the industry. Now after five years of their launch, Karan Johar is giving the best launchpad to the two more new faces – Janhvi Kapoor, the daughter of Bollywood actress Sri Devi and producer Boney Kapoor, and Ishaan Khattar, the half-brother of Shahid Kapoor.

Karan Johar to make Janhvi and Ishaan's debut grander

Johar announced the film titled ‘Dhadak’ and introduced Janhvi and Ishaan to the world on Wednesday. He released three posters of the film that feature both sharing sizzling chemistry and we must say, they look amazingly superb together. Besides these two new promising faces entering the Hindi film industry, what makes ‘Dhadak’ exciting is that it’s an official adaptation of Marathi film, ‘Sairat’. The original Marathi love saga received tremendous response from critics as well as audiences and grossed over INR 100 crore at box office becoming the first Marathi film to achieve this box office total.

One more fact that makes this film worth a wait is Shashank Khaitan who has got the responsibility to direct the newcomers. Shashank has directed Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’ and this year’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya’ so far and his both films have turned out financially successful. Shashank is known as the master of heartland romance and with him on board to helm ‘Sairat’remake which is the same kind of film that he is notable for, it’s just going to be bigger and better.

Johar who has teamed up with Zee Studios to bring ‘Dhadak’ on 6th July 2018, is excited about the launch of Janhvi and Ishaan. He says, “At Dharma, we believe very strongly in promoting new talent. A host of first-time filmmakers, technicians, and actors have begun their journey in the entertainment industry from the corridors of our company. I am exhilarated and proud to present two sparkling new energies, new acting talents that will begin their cinema story with us. Janhvi and Ishaan in Dhadak, directed by Shashank Khaitan. Also, I am very honoured to collaborate with Zee Studios on this ambitious adaptation of the humongously successful and celebrated Marathi film Sairat.”

However, ‘Dhadak’ is said to be not the exact copy of the original. Context and places have been changed to connect it with wider audiences. Johar’s Dharma Productions is planning to make it a huge movie for next year. The shooting will reportedly begin next month in Rajasthan where the film’s storyline unfolds.

“Some stories are immortal and Sairat is one such immortal story that touched a million hearts. It’s a moment of pride for Zee Studios to be recreating the magic of Sairat for the Hindi-speaking market. We are excited to be co-producing this film with Dharma Productions and look forward to the association,” says Sujay Kutty, Business Head, Zee Studios.
