The Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Judwaa 2’ keeps the magic of the original Judwaa alive, earning a superb $12.5 Million in its opening weekend in India.
The widest September release with more than 3,000 cinemas showing the film, ‘Judwaa 2’ debuted to a strong $2.4 million on Friday with it’s opening day earning surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s August release ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’.
‘Judwaa 2’ has become the third highest Hindi film opener this year, behind ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Raees’, and the 5th highest international opening weekend of 2017 for a Hindi film with $2.9 Million at the box office, garnering a good response across international markets including the UK.
20 years from the release of David Dhawan’s blockbuster comic caper ‘Judwaa’, the iconic Jodi Raja and Prem are back as Varun Dhawan stepped into Salman Khan’s shoes in the remake of the 1997 hit.
‘Judwaal 2’ tells the story of a pair of twins who are separated at birth and who grow up under vastly divergent circumstance. The two eventually come together to battle a smuggling ring and save their family from certain doom. The cast also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu.
