Armaan Malik is one of the finest talents in the Bollywood music industry.
Recently, his song ‘Theher Ja’ from Shoojit Sircar’s October grossed over 20 million views on YouTube. This was the first time Malik sang for Varun Dhawan.
Now, the sensational singer has released a new single, which he claims to be a ‘rebirth’ of the popular 90s track ‘Ghar Se Nikalte Hi,’ from the film Papa Kehte Hain.
This new version has been composed and reprised by Armaan’s brother Amaal Mallik. It is a soothing number with a hint of heartbreak and nostalgia.
‘Ghar Se Nikalte Hi’ will definitely strike a chord with listeners, but Armaan claims that the song is not a ‘remix’ or a ‘recreation’ per se, but a ‘rebirth’:
“Since everyone is giving a lot of flak to the recreation wave I want to tell people that this song is not a recreation it’s a REBIRTH. An original creation cannot be recreated but it can definitely take a new form through a Rebirth so the right term to use whilst describing this song would be ‘REBIRTH – Of A Classic.'”
It has only been three days since the video of the single released and it has grossed over 13 million views on YouTube. With regards to such a terrific response online, Malik feels ‘ecstatic.’
Talking about how the song was developed, Armaan tells Asian Style:
“‘Ghar Se Nikalte Hi’ was the brainchild of Bhushan Kumar sir. He wanted me to do this song as my next single following Aaja Na Ferrari Mein which I did last year. He told me that – personally for him, this song defined what ‘Young Innocent Love’ is all about and he could not imagine anyone else but me, to bring that boy-next-door vibe to the song. I had never heard the song ever before. I had heard it for the first time just 6 months back. It was originally released in 1996 and I was born in 1995.”
He further mentions:
“I was jamming over the song a couple of times and while it was happening, Amaal came in and heard that I was trying to work on this song. Amaal already knew this song from before and was a fan of the melody and the original composer Rajesh Roshan Ji. When he learned that I was also featured in the video, Amaal without any hesitation said that he wants to work on it and give it his twist and from there on the song just kept on getting grander and much more beautiful than what I ever had in mind for it. This is how ‘Ghar Se Nikalte Hi’ Happened.”
