Whether it’s at someone’s wedding or at dance rehearsals for a film, Karan Johar is where dancing people are. The director landed at a dance studio where Aditya Roy Kapur was training for his upcoming film Kalank and made a big reveal while he was there.

Varun Dhawan, who is also a part of Kalank, posted the video on Twitter. “#AdityaRoyKapur will begin shooting for #kalank today. @karanjohar came to check on his rehearsals and revealed a beautiful surprise. @kritisanon also joins #Kalank. Good Friday just got bigger 2019,” he wrote in his tweet.

In the video, Karan called Aditya ‘one of the most prolific dancers of the Indian film fraternity’ and Kriti the ‘gorgeous gorgeous Barfi. Not the one you eat but the one you can’t resist.’

Kriti will be joining not only Varun and Aditya in the film but also Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Kunal Kemmu and Sonakshi Sinha.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, the epic drama is set in the 1940s. The film marks the collaboration of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

Alia, who has already worked with Varman in his debut film 2 States, said: “The film is directed by a very dear friend Abhishek, so for me, it is a double fun — working with all these beautiful artists and to be getting directed by Abhishek.”

Madhuri also said that she looking forward to working with Sanjay Dutt and the rest of the cast. “I am excited to start the shoot for ‘Kalank’ today. It’s my second association with Karan Johar after ‘Bucket List’ and it’s been a lovely journey so far. Can’t wait to begin this one,” she said in a statement to IANS.

Kalank will release on April 19, 2019.
