Babes, boys and bewafai. For many years, these three words established the narrative of the Race instalments. Yet again, this theme is prevalent in the trailer of Race 3. This time, there is a fresh cast (barring Jacqueline and Anil), new director and the film itself is headlined by superstar Salman Khan.
From the three minute and 31-second glimpse, the movie seems to narrate the story of how Sikander (Salman Khan) an affluent man is betrayed by his family – (roles played by Anil Kapoor, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem) – which is perhaps why the movie follows the tagline “You don’t need enemies when you have a family.”
After seeing a pious and ‘Sanskaari’ family man in previous movies like Hum Saath-Saath Hain and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman takes a complete 360-degree turn as the no-nonsense Sikander. Whilst it is great to see Salman in this, fans of the original Race films will definitely miss Saif Ali Khan!
The trailer packs everything one expects from a masala flick, mainly the jaw-dropping action sequences and heavy seeti-maar dialogues. Thus, the one line that is set to become the movie’s anthem is “Woh Nahin Jaante. Uss Race Ka Sikander Main Hoon”.
The way Salman delivers this line, with his black specs on and combing back his hair with his hands, will make the audience go mad for sure. Though I must admit, we have certainly heard catchier dialogues from the ‘Bhai’ before.
As for the action sequences and stunts, it will not be wrong to say that some of these stunts and action scenes have been seen A LOT before in previous Hollywood films. Nonetheless, action enthusiasts will definitely enjoy watching this on celluloid, especially in 3D.
Speaking of Salman, the trailer is literally centred on him. We see the ‘Dabangg’ Khan perform heavy duty stunts and actions sequences, as well as bantering with the on-screen beau, who is played by Jacqueline Fernandez. Jacqueline looks and acts her usual best.
Daisy Shah seems to be okay. We saw this sexy, stylish and lethal side to her in Hate Story 3 and this shade is exhibited yet again – even in the way she delivers the dialogue, “Our business is our business. None of your business.” But I guess, she fits the bill.
With regards to the rest of the cast, they seem to vanish in a blink, but it is great to see Bobby Deol as an addition to the movie. Also, Freddy Daruwala and Saqib Saleem’s chiselled bodies are guaranteed eye-candy.
Remo D’Souza’s journey as a filmmaker has been quite rocky. If one is honest, he has not really made a good quality film other than the ABCD series. Plus, his last action film A Flying Jatt, was pretty diabolical but compared to that, Race 3 definitely looks better!
Overall, Race 3 delivers exactly what it promises: A solid visual appeal, jaw-dropping action sequences and some whistle-worthy dialogues. Moreover, the story itself seems quite decent. But how good will the final product be? We will find out on 15th June!
