It was reported that Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘comeback’ film Manmarziyaan was scheduled to release on the same day as that of his mentor, JP Dutta’s Paltan, September 7.

Filmmaker Karan Johar’s production, Drive, is also meant to come on the same date. We now hear that Mr Bachchan has requested his producers to postpone his film by a week, in order to avoid this clash.

Meanwhile, even as the makers of Manmarziyaan – producer Aanand L Rai and director Anurag Kashyap — are contemplating a date change, one hears that superstar-filmmaker, Ajay Devgn, has chosen September 14 as the release date for his wife, Kajol’s film Eela.

Right now, the makers of Manmarziyaan and Eela are only tentatively looking at that date. Ajay and Abhishek are close friends. Wonder how these two will put their heads together to find a solution.

Interestingly, Abhishek was supposed to star in Paltan. However, after he opted out of the project, he was reportedly replaced by Harshvardhan Rane.

Harshvardhan was missing from the UK promotional spree but managed to make it to the final leg of Paltan promotions in London. Talking about this, the Sanam Teri Kasam actor told Asian Style:

“I’m now getting used to entering at the last moments for this film because I was cast for the film in a similar manner [after Mr Abhishek Bachchan opted out]. Now, I’ve reached the last moment of a promotional event and this is God’s way of telling me that I just have to keep trying and I will always get through [smiles].”
