Filmmaker Shankar Shanmugam’s films, apart from grandeur, are also known for its lengthy running time. His most of the movies have the run time of nearly three hours or more than that. His last release ‘I’ that starred Vikram and Amy Jackson in lead was three-hours-and-eight-minute longer.
However, Shankar’s forthcoming film, ‘2.0’ which is one of the most awaited films of 2018, will be the shortest film of his career. The run-time of the Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson starrer this science fiction movie will reportedly be around 2 hours and 20 minutes including the three songs that feature in the film. This will be the first time since his debut movie ‘Gentleman’ that his film will have a run-time under two hours and 30 minutes.
‘2.0’ will be over 30 minutes shorter than its prequel ‘Enthiran’ (2010). The run-time of ‘2.0’ has been kept short considering the fact that the film is made in 3D format and with 3D glasses, it becomes difficult to watch a longer movie.
The audio of the film was launched yesterday in a grand level in Dubai. Produced by Lyca Productions and music by A.R. Rahman, ‘2.0’ is scheduled to release worldwide on 25th January 2018.
