Shankar’s much-awaited sci-fi movie ‘2.0’ was all set to release on 25th of January next year, the film’s audio was also released at a grand event in Dubai. Everything was going as per plan (at least for those who are eagerly waiting for this movie) until Akshay Kumar announced that his film ‘Padman’ will also land in theatres on the same weekend ‘2.0’ is scheduled for.
After this announcement, some tabloids reported that there might be Akshay Vs Akshay on India’s Republic weekend 2018 as his both films, ‘2.0’ and ‘Padman’ can co-exist considering the different subjects of the film. However, the latest buzz suggests that Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson starrer ‘2.0’ has been postponed.
‘2.0’ has reportedly been pushed ahead since the VFX and post-production will take more time to complete. Although neither Shankar nor Lyca Productions have officialized this news, an official statement regarding the new release date is expected to be out soon.
However, the buzz in trade is that ‘2.0’ might now release on 13th April 2018. If a source is to be believed, the makers have grabbed this long weekend as it coincides with the Tamil New Year and summer vacations which might be beneficial for the film at the box office if it clicks with audiences.
If ‘2.0’ releases on 13th April, Varun Dhawan’s ‘October’ which claimed this release date just after Akshay Kumar prepping ‘Padman’, will likely shift to stake its claim on two coveted long weekends.
