The first trailer which sees the sensational duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor back on the silver screen for the first time in 27 years, is out and it’s most certainly redefining their star power, as they take on lead roles in this ‘ageless family comedy’
102 Not Out is based on the most unusual father and son love story. The bond between a parent and child is unique, but there is nothing quite like that of a larger-than-life 102 year old father and his cranky 75 year old son.
The father, 102 years “young” Dattatraya Vakharia (Amitabh Bachchan), lives a life full of fun and harbours the dream of breaking the record for the world’s oldest living man, but thinks his grumpy 75 years “old” son Babulal (Rishi Kapoor) is a going to slow him down with his drudgery old ways.
The first look of the trailer leaves no doubt in Bachchan’s versatility as an actor, as playing a much older role that too of a centenarian is almost unheard of in Bollywood and senior Bachchan most certainly leaves us impressed with the first glimpse of Dattatraya. Rishi Kapoor also impresses as the grumpy Babulal, heightening the excitement of this rather unusual Bollywood film where all central characters are senior citizens.
The film is based on playwright Sumya Joshi’s well known Gujarati play by the same name and has been adapted into a feature by him.
The trailer launch comes after the team released the first poster promoting the movie above on the 23 March, followed by a second on the 24 March (right). The poster shows the centenarian pouring water on his son, as if he were a plant. This suggests that no matter how old we are – we always need our parents to grow, aged 7 or 75.
The team also initiated the unique activity of hatching an egg which garnered 1 million pokes in less than 20 hours! Epitomising the intrigue surrounding the film, the activity was a huge success and saw vast participation from people all over the world. The egg was hatched when the trailer activity reached 1 million.
