Almost a year after the announcement of his next directorial, Sriram Raghavan has finally decided to announce the title of his forthcoming film starring Ayushmann Khurrana.
The film will be titled as ‘Andhadhun’ which also stars Tabu and Radhika Apte.
Ayushmann took to his Instagram to announce the title of the film through a small video clip. The first look of the film will be dropped tomorrow.
Andhadhun is a thriller, and in its initial days, it was tentatively called as The Piano Player. Set in Pune, the shooting of the film is almost complete, with just a song remaining, which will be shot later.
While talking about the film to a Mumbai tabloid, director Sriram Raghavan laughed and said, “We are running with the title as Ayushmann plays a blind pianist.
It goes well with the story too. We had a lot of options in our mind, including Shoot The Piano Player, but the producers weren’t keen on using an English title. I know the real word is ‘Andhadhund’, but the ‘D’ is silent for us.”
He added that the film is not as intense as Badlapur, rather it is more like Johnny Gaddaar, with quirky characters and a strong plot.
He continues, “Amit Trivedi has done the music, and this is the first time my characters will be lisping in the film.”
Earlier, Ayushmann had said that he has learned to play the piano in two months from a Los Angeles-based pianist, Akshay Verma.
“Ayushmann is a musician himself but he trained rigorously and that worked in our favour as we didn’t have to hire a body double for the finger shots on the piano or even use any kind of VFX.
In fact, he plays some fantastic pieces in the film which have been brilliantly composed by Amit,” Raghavan said.
Apart from Andhadhun, Ayushmann will also be seen in two other films titled Badhaai Ho and Manmarziyaan. Badhaai Ho is directed by Amit Sharma.
Manmarziyaan will be directed by ace director Anurag Kashyap, and will also star Bhumi Pednekar, Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
