Filmmaker Karan Johar last directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016 which had a stellar cast consisting of Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan. He is now all set for his next directorial.
In an interview with an Indian daily, KJo said: “I have locked a screenplay and I am going to direct a film around mid-next year. I look forward to casting for it as soon as I come back from New York.”
So far, Johar has had a “hard-working” year and that’s why he has flown to New York, USA, to ring in his 46th birthday on Friday.
The “workaholic” filmmaker admits that after a short holiday, he will be set for “Mumbai madness” all over again.
Of current KJo and the Raazi team are celebrating the success of the movie. Karan said, “We are already thrilled [with Raazi’s success]. I’ve to eternally thank Meghna Gulzar for giving me and my company the biggest birthday gift that I could have ever asked for.”
While Karan will direct his feature film next year, the K3G maker has directed a segment in the anthology movie Lust Stories, which will be streamed on Netflix in June.
This segment will star Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal and Neha Dhupia. KJo will work alongside the Bombay Talkies filmmakers – Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap.
