Filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh’s next directorial ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ will go on floors on January 19. Shahid Kapoor starrer movie will entirely be shot in North India. Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, Mussoorie and Nainital are the locations finalized to film this social drama. Planned to wrap it up by April 2018, the film is scheduled to release on August 31, 2018.
The film will have Shahid playing a lawyer who fights against corruption while Katrina Kaif has been finalized to play his love interest. Apart from them, there will be one more actress who will play the lawyer and battle Shahid in court. The hunt for the lady lawyer is reportedly presently on.
‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ (BGMC) is said to have huge dollops of humour as well as a strong social message, human values, and an inherent emotional quotient. The director Shree Narayan Singh says, “The film will take off on a cool note but will become more intense post-interval with heavyweight performances and Shahid having several confrontation scenes.”
Produced by KriArj Entertainment and I T-Series and written by Vipul K Rawal (Rustom) and the duo Siddharth-Garima (Toilet Ek Prem Katha), ‘BGMC’ revolves around the common man’s fights against the power distribution companies in India over the huge amount of bills generated. “The film touches upon two aspects — first, the significance of electricity and life without it and second, what happens to a common man when he is faced with humungous bills,” the filmmaker adds.
