Deepika Padukone was supposed to begin the shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s next movie after the release of her historical drama ‘Padmavati’. But, since Padmavati’s release date has been voluntarily deferred, it was speculated that it might affect Bhardwaj’s film as well and it might not hit the floors as planned.
However, the producer of the yet-untitled movie has rubbished this speculation clarifying that there is no change in the take-off schedule of the Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan starrer movie. Arjun N Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment, who is co-producing the film with Bhardwaj, dismissed the news of the change of plans, saying “there will not be any delay in the film’s shooting schedule”.
“First of all, let me clearly state this, there has been no announcement from Padmavati team’s end regarding the new release date. So it’s any way premature to talk about it. We don’t have an idea when it will eventually release. As it is, Deepika starts our film only around January end and February next year. We plan to begin shooting towards the end of January, but that can extend to February first week. So even if the film releases around that time and Deepika needs time off to promote the film, we will happily accommodate that. That isn’t a problem,” Kapoor said to DNA.
Kapoor also stated that they support ‘Padmavati’ amidst the controversy and are ready to accommodate Deepika’s dates if Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film release in the middle of their film’s shooting. “Vishal sir and we spoke a few nights ago and discussed this. We all mutually felt that although it’s not clear if the film will release around that time, even if at all, there are any requirements from Deepika’s end specifically, we are ready to adjust and we will definitely see to it that she’s comfortable.”
Deepika and Irrfan Khan starrer this gangster saga is said to be based on the chapter “Femme Fatale” from journalist and author S Hussain Zaidi’s book “Mafia Queens of Mumbai”. The film tells the story of Rahima Khan aka Sapna Didi, who planned to murder gangster Dawood Ibrahim since he had killed her husband. Honey Trehan who has been a casting director for 15 years will direct this film, scheduled to release on 2nd October 2018.
