Badhaai Ho: Ayushmann Khurrana stars in Junglee Pictures’ next family entertainer
By RAHUL RAUT
Be it ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, ‘Talvar’ or this year’s sleeper hit ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ which portrays semi-urban household relationships in realistic settings in a quirky and fun-filled manner, Junglee Pictures has always focused in creating content that brings to life stories that are relatable. The production company, with its every release, has ensured to deliver fresh and untapped subjects.
Headed by Priti Shahani, Junglee Pictures already has an interesting line up of films for next year. Meghna Gulzar’s espionage thriller ‘Raazi’ starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal has already been completed while the shooting for Vidyut Jammwal’s ‘Junglee’ which tackles the subject of Ivory trade and elephant poaching is currently on floors.
Continuing its notion towards delivering good contents, Junglee Pictures has now announced a new family entertainer that promises a laugh riot in a very quirky manner. Titled ‘Badhaai Ho’, the film stars Ayushmann Khurrana who also starred in the production house’s last release, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’. The movie is said to be a coming-of-age story of a family as it grapples with some unexpected news. The film follows the impact of the news on the family and how the members deal with it in their own way.
Amit Sharma who made his directorial debut with the Arjun Kapoor-Sonakshi Sinha-starrer ‘Tevar’ (2015), has come on board to helm this movie, written by Akshat Ghildial and Shantanu Srivastava. Although the other details haven’t been divulged yet, the film is set to roll at the end of January 2018 in Delhi.
Confirming the second collaboration with Junglee Pictures, Khurrana says: “I had a fantastic experience collaborating with Junglee Pictures for Bareilly Ki Barfi and working with them on Badhaai Ho is going to be exciting. The story that Amit tells is typically Indian with dollops of quirky humour. I look forward to a family film that is innovative and entertaining.”
Sharma who is directing this film says they locked this catchy title since it’s simple, apt, quirky and a part of many people’s everyday lingo. Talking about his second project, he reveals, “It’s very real and easy to relate to. What is funny for others is a matter of concern for the family.”
On her part, Priti Shahani of Junglee Pictures states: “Our release for this year, Bareilly Ki Barfi, received much love from the audience. It has been fantastic working with Ayushmann and we are now looking forward to collaborate with him again on Badhaai Ho. Amit is an exceptional director as is evident from his body of work. We couldn’t have asked for a better team coming together to tell this story.”
