Arjun Kapoor is all set to begin the shooting for Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ this week. We recently reported that the film will be shot in one go in North India where the movie is based in. Now, it has been revealed that Arjun will be playing a cop in this film.

Arjun will play a 30-year-old police officer from Delhi Police’s special unit in this film. According to Hindustan Times, Arjun’s character aspires to grow and wants a promotion so he can play a more responsible role in law enforcement, and needs to undergo special training to notch up high-profile cases.

Arjun who is playing a cop for the first time in this movie reportedly went to an extensive, in-depth research to prepare for the character so that he can understand how tough a police officer’s life is. Talking about the same, Arjun said: “Dibakar wanted me to understand the world the character comes from. I also wanted to understand the character’s entire journey. I wanted to know his psychology and why he is the way he is, and why he makes certain extreme choices.”

Besides the thorough observations, Arjun along with the director Dibakar Banerjee also spent about ten days travelling across Delhi and NCR and interacted with the police and their families at their homes to understand the cop culture. “I got to meet so many fascinating people. Actually, I have been preparing almost for three months now. I am devoting more time for the prep than shooting it. I knew that if I understood this world, I would be able to play the character better,” Arjun said.

To get a look at how police officers tackle the crisis and high-risk conflict situations, Arjun also attended workshops for cadet training and weapon handling, the trainings that the military and paramilitary forces have to go through. “Their conditioning looks very easy on-screen, but what it takes to become an actual police officer and the kind of sacrifices that you have to make to reach a certain level is exemplary. It was very fascinating. Undercover missions are at a completely different level. It was the first time in my life that I got the opportunity to meet cops at this level,” Arjun concluded.

‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ that reunites Arjun with Parineeti Chopra after their debut film, ‘Issaqzaade’ is a story of a man and woman who represent two completely different Indias. They are united in one thing only. Their mistrust, suspicion, and hate for each other. The film is expected to be wrapped by March and release by the mid of 2018.
