2017: Here’s why you will be having a gala time at the cinema!

2016 might have been a bit of a damper when it comes to Bollywood but 2017 surely promises to be one of the most exciting years for Bollywood buffs yet. This year will see much awaited releases from all the biggest names of the industry. From experimental films to sequels, there will be a lot on offer to appeal to the audiences whose tastes are as varied as these 2017 films are looking to be. We decided to share our top picks from the coming year to show you a glimpse of the cinematic treats you are in for!

Raees:
January has traditionally been a good month for movie releases with the Republic Day holiday on the 26th and this year we have not one but two big releases coming on this Indian holiday – Raees and Kaabil. The former stars Shah Rukh Khan, the king of not just Bollywood but also of release-date clashes, who will be seen in a completely new avatar in the film. Raees first captured audiences’ interest with a teaser that came out in 2015 with an initial release date of Eid 2016.While the release date was changed because it was clashing with Salman Khan’s Sultan, the interest in the film has only increased.

Earlier this month, the producers finally released the full trailer and boy are we impressed! The film sees Shah Rukh playing the anti-hero (allegedly based on the life of Abdul Latif, a very prominent underworld figure from Gujarat). Of course we all know that even if Khan is playing the anti-hero, as he did in Darr and Bazigar, we would still love every second of it. Raees has Shah Rukh pitted against the acting powerhouse that is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Raees  also marks  the debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan as the leading lady. While the trailer has given us a glimpse of the intense chemistry between the two Khans, we can’t wait for the rest of it to unfold on the big screen!

Kaabil:

While it is no secret that Hrithik Roshan has had a dry spell in Bollywood since his last big hit, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, we are
extremely hopeful for Kaabil, for we know that his recent box office does, in no way, reflect on Roshan’s abilities as an actor. Kaabil, starring Yami Gautam opposite Roshan, takes us on an emotional roller coaster – from romance to love to revenge! The story revolves around two visually impaired individuals who find each other and within each other, they find love. We know that Hrithik excels at challenging roles so we are hoping that he is able to deliver a hit with this one.

Stay tuned for more reveals everyday!
